Corriston Movement & Dance
Amber is the founder of Corriston Movement and Dance and is now offering dance classes, private lessons and dance birthday parties right here at The Nest. She is a mother of 2, loves to run and loves teaching students of all ages. Amber has been teaching throughout Seattle, New York City, Connecticut and now Harrisonburg since 1994, teaching everything from jazz to ballet, creative movement, parent & toddler classes, modern & musical theater, and beginner tap. She grew up dancing at Elizabeth’s Dance Dimensions in Bellevue, WA where she studied with Elizabeth Lanning. In both 1995 and 1997, she was awarded the title of Miss Dance of the Pacific Northwest through Dance Masters of America and in 1995 she was a contestant in the Miss America Scholarship Program as Miss Washington 1995. She is currently the Dance Director at Harrisonburg High School and is thrilled to be part of a public school system that embraces the importance of the performing arts and dance in our educational system (it’s pretty unique to see a public high school with a full time dance instructor!). Amber and her husband Ryan, who is an Assistant Professor of Dance at JMU, moved to Harrisonburg in June of 2103 and have grown quite fond of the area and all it has to offer and she is very excited to bring her talents and passion for dance to the community!
